Module Description: This module will enable the student to measure elements from the National Table of Building Elements and build up corresponding rates.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Deliver comprehensive bill descriptions using Agreed Rules of Measurement
LO2 Apply the principles of construction estimating and rate build up
LO3 Compile standard phraseologies for Bill of Quantities
LO4 Further develop the skills necessary for the measurement of domestic structure

Indicative Content
Measurement of Building Elements
Measurement of Building (Direct Costs) as outlined on the National Table of Building Elements
Estimating
Manipulate and modify the resource costs for more complex structures. This will include Labour, Material, Plant, Prelims and Subcontractors costs.
Measurement in accordance with ARM
Application of rules of measurement as defined within ARM to produce elemental take off in accordance with and subject to the National Table of Elements. This will include the compilation of standard phraseologies incorporating Specification requirements. Identification and application of specific Preamble items.
