Module Description: This module is designed to give the learner a theoretical introduction to current automotive electrical systems.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Explain the fundamenal operating principles of electricty.
LO2 Calculate automotive electrical circuit operations using ohms law.
LO3 Discuss the operation of automotive electrical consumers and loads.
LO4 Evaluate the operation of automotive electrical circuits and systems using automotive electrical test equipment.

Indicative Content
Principles of electricty
Principles of magnetism,electo magnetism and its application in automobile electricty.
Electrical calculations
Calculations of automotive electrical circuits eg. series electrical circuits, parallel electrical circuits, and series/parallel electrical circuits.
Automotive electrical circuts
Fundamental layout of the charging circuit,starter motor circut, ignition circuit, automotive lighting circuits and related electrical circuits.
Automotive electrical circuit testing
Demonstrate the fundamental use of a multimeter to test a range of automotive electrical circuits. Safty measures necessary when working with high and low automotive electrical circuits.
Electrical engineered loads
A fundamental working knowledge of engineered automotive electrical components.
