Module Description: To provide quality assurance and validation methods to an industrial environment.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Apply and understand the benefits of quality assurance.
LO2 Calculate and interpret methods of developing process control testing.
LO3 Formulate and use the total quality management skills involved in quality control
LO4 Identify and organise current validation techniques.

Overview of quality and validation. Quality planning. Quality function deployment techniques. Validation systems.
Statistical Process Control
Process control for attribute and variables data. P-charts. Process capability index. Introduction to Six Sigma process. Taguchi loss function.
Graphical Methods for Validation
Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams (Ishikawa). Failure modea and effects analysis (FMEA). Scatter plots
Process Monitoring
Total quality management (TQM) for validation. Historical overview, management techniques.

Role of Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Installation Qualification (IQ) Operational Qualification (OQ) Performance Qualification (PQ)
