Module Description: This module further develops the area of quality assurance by introducing aspects of quality management, validation, and relevant statistical methods
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Construct various charts designed to aid in the control of variability of processes
LO2 Describe concepts of quality cost models
LO3 Explain concepts of statistical quality control
LO4 Outline principles of validation within a manufacturing environment

Indicative Content
Understanding variability in processes
Normal distribution, Sampling inspection, Design and use of quality control charts.
Validation
The meaning of validation. Validation policy, validation documentation, qualification. Process validation. Cleaning validation. Analytical validation.
Managing quality assurance systems
Features of a quality management system, role of the quality manager. Quality costing methods.
Problem solving tools.
Basic statistical concepts, introduction to quality toolbox.
