Module Description: This module enhance the student understanding of Electrical Engineering within the Building Industrial Service Engineering. This module deal with theoretical and practical problems that he/she can meet in Building Industrial Engineering environment. These problem are associated with selection,sizing and testing of various equipment employed in electrical power suply.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Perform numerical and phasor analysis of R-L-C series & parallel circuit
LO2 Explain principles of operation and method of construction and perform operational numerical analysis of power transformer and single & three-phase electric motor
LO3 Perform numerical analysis of three-phase balance & unbalance low voltage power system
LO4 Describe and explain the concept of internal distribution system for small industrial and commercial building
LO5 Select and calculate size of power cable for various applications
LO6 Design of interior and emergency lighting including equipment selection and calculation necessary

Analysis of R-L-C circuit that include numerical and phasor analysis

Analysis of three-phase balance and unbalance theree-phase low voltage power system that include numerical and phasor analysis
Transformer and Electric motor
Introduction to the concept of analysis of operation and construction of power transformer and electric motor as a part of electric power system
Internal Distribution System
Introduction to the concept of internal distribution system applied in industrial and commercial buildings.
Cable Management
An introduction to the description, selection and sizing of the power cablew for particular application within Building Industrial Engineering environment
Internal and Emergency Lighting
Design of interior and emergency lighting using point to point and lumens method.Introduction to the selection criteria for the interior and emergency lighting
Fire Alarm System
Overview ofthe equipment used in Fire Alarm System and introduction to the design of the Fire Alarm System installed in industrial, commercial and domestic buildings.
