Module Description: The learner will develop the competence to write a technical report based on work relevant to the course undertaken in place of work or in a laboratory setting. The module allows students to become familiar with procedures necessary to produce a technical Level 7 report. Provides the learner with the opportunity to observe the practical application of theoretical knowledge gained through the programme of modules.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Apply knowledge, skills and competencies acquired during the programme of study to the analysis and solution of workplace problems.
LO2 Write a comprehensive technical report on the placement/project.
LO3 Provide an oral presentation to staff members based on the report.
LO4 Maintain a placement/project diary of progress to be shown periodically to supervisor

Location of Placement/Project/Dissertation
Student can pursue a project/piece of work in their industry, they may be required to complete an in-house project or they may be placed in an educational institute within Ireland to complete a project.

Management and communication processes, presentations, report planning.

To understand report layout including, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary, paragraphs, spelling and references.

Analysis of workplace-related problems and suggestions for appropriate solutions
