Module Description: This skill centred module enables intermediate guitar students to develop their fundamental, technical, rhythmic and stylistic performance skills through the study of guitar accompaniment. Students develop their ability to learn independently and critically analyse relevant repertory.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Display consolidated fundamental technical instrumental skills.
LO2 Demonstrate technical and stylistic skills by replicating fundamental song accompaniment repertory.
LO3 Apply fundamental technical skills to create and play an appropriate song accompaniment.
LO4 Present appropriate etude repertoire.
LO5 Effectively interact with other musicians or a backing track.

Indicative Content
Technique
Development of fundamental technique through basic etudes, scales, arpeggios and chords.
Reading
Progression of fundamental reading ability of basic chord charts and music notation.
Accompaniment Skills
Interaction with other musicians and backing track.
Repertory Engagement
Progressive study of key musicians from the acoustic guitar's history is used to inform the relevant stylistic considerations in performance.
