Module Description: |
The international study trip takes participants to an international destination to experience first-hand what it is like to do business in another country. Students will meet with representatives of international organisations and undertake a series of lectures and workshops on various facets of international business in the host country. This module will display the practical side of the business concepts studied in other modules on the course, developing the student’s understanding of global business issues and challenges and the competitive framework in which global organisations operate. |
Learning Outcomes |
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to: |

Assess the general business practices in another geographic market while immersed in and exposed to that culture. |
LO2 |
Analyse the political, economic, and cultural environment of a foreign market through interactions with stakeholders pertinent to that market. |
LO3 |
Propose a plan to establish a new business entity in another country building upon insight gained while on a study tour within that country. |
LO4 |
Develop core personal and professional skills necessary for establishing a successful international business career. |
LO5 |
Apply professional communication and interaction skills in a multi-cultural business environment. |

This group presentation is linked to the group project, where students will present their preliminary investigations at the end of the international trip, before returning to Ireland. |

Project |
This is a group project requiring a short report based on international business issues experienced whilst on the trip. Here students will be assigned roles (for example an Ambassador, member of IBEC, business consultant etc.) to examine a particular market segment, company, topic or political issue. |

Week 10 |
Reflective Journal |
Students will critically analyse and interpret the workshops attended and the overall experience of the field trip. Preparation of this reflective journal will begin before the international field trip. Students must complete 2 reflective journals. The first to be completed by the end of the week abroad, and the second is required 3 weeks after returning from the trip. |
