Module Description: The handbuilding module offers the learner to experience the realisation of his/her ideas through the medium of clay. The learner will engage in the process of creative idea development, production of selected ideas in handbuilding technique, having explored a range of approaches to handbuilding.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Produce creative ideas within the framework of a given brief.
LO2 Produce, develop and execute three dimensional ideas.
LO3 Identify, collect and make creative use of visual material relevant to the development of the ideas.
LO4 Critically appraise the outcome of each stage of development and make informed choices about the direction of the development.
LO5 Demonstrate proficiency in at least one hanbuilding techniques.

Creative idea development and expression through an appropriate medium and technique(s).
Context
Critical enquiry of idea content and production methods, their historical background and their contemporary relevance.
Concept
Identification and development of pertinent issues related to the conceptual development
Time management
Identification, structure and planning of the time available with consideration of time requirements of the processes used.
Organisation
Structure the available time with an understanding of drying and firing times the used materials require.
Health and Safety
Work in studio space appropriately and safely with respect for co-workers.
