Module Description: |
This module is aimed at students who have completed at least 3 years of a German course from beginners level, and who wish to strengthen and deepen their existing German language skills. This module is delivered at CEFR level A1.2 (also commonly referred to as upper A1 or A1+). |
Learning Outcomes |
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to: |

understand a basic level of spoken German |

speak basic sentences in the present tense and the spoken past tense |

write basic sentences and short paragraphs in German |

Indicative Content |
Landeskunde
The geography of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Populations. Economies and branches of industry.

Language content
General and everyday German, e.g. daily routines, family, hobbies and leisure, introductions, going to the doctor. Basic business situations such as organising a seminar, introductions, business cards, basic role descriptions. Vocabulary-building exercises.

Grammar
Revision of the present tense and the spoken past tense. Use of articles and cases.
