Module Description: This module further develops key musicianship skills integrating perceptual, practical and analytical skills in a performance-based practicum.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Recognise key melodic, harmonic, textural, formal and stylistic features in a performance of a musical extract
LO2 Perform and memorise a range of songs and partsongs
LO3 Apply the diatonic relationships in major and minor keys to the harmonisation of melody and bass lines
LO4 Conduct a small ensemble or unison choir in a simple item
LO5 Use the first basics of vocal technique in class choir

Aural Skills
Promoting the continued refinement of the skills of sightreading, memorisation, inner hearing and aural awareness to develop a sensitivity to style and a confidence in identification and description of key features of C17 and 18 composition using appropriate terminology. The reproduction vocally and in written form of a two-part passage
Conducting
Baton hold & presentation; beat patterns & character; gathering, starting & finishing; subdivisions; left hand; first steps in vocal technique (breathing, loose jaw).
Analysis and Compositional Skills
An examination of the harmonic relationships and resources available in a diatonic context and realisation of bass lines
