Module Description: The learner will undertake a relevant work placement for no less than 15 weeks. The placement will familiarise the student with work practises and procedures and also provide him/her with the opportunity to observe the practical application of theoretical knowledge gained on his/her programme. The placement is supported by a member of academic staff in CIT together with a workplace mentor. The aim of the placement is to introduce the learner to a structured employment in a relevant work sector and to develop an understanding of the organisation, its culture, procedures and technologies.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Prepare career plan and documents for the successful completion of the job application process.
LO2 Critically analyse the enterprise, its culture and organisation.
LO3 Communicate in a professional manner within the workplace and when representing the workplace online and offline.
LO4 Display initiative in completing ones own assigned work and contribute positively to team based tasks.
LO5 Apply knowledge, skills and competencies acquired during the programme of study to the analysis and solution of workplace problems.
LO6 Reflect on and analyse the learning experience resulting from the work placement.

Business and manufacturing processes, quality assurance systems, health and safety practises, IT systems and organisational culture.
Communication
Management and communication processes within the enterprise, meetings, presentations, project planning and online.
Problem Solving
Analysis of workplace related problems and suggestions appropriate solutions.
Teamwork
Function in work based teams, conflict prevention, resolution and leadership.
Application of Learning to the Workplace
Adapt an effective approach used by other staff members, consider how to improve the standard of a task completion and consider how to complete a task differently
Reflective Work Practice
Consider work problems and solutions with a view to understanding the link between theoretical course content and it's application in the work environment.
