Module Description: This module introduces the organisational and managerial foundations of systems and their strategic role and enables students to perform intermediate and advanced spreadsheet operations.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Describe the main functional Business Information Systems and their limitations.
LO2 Explain how Information Systems can be used strategically to maximise competitive advantage.
LO3 Define E-Commerce and explain how it has transformed consumer retailing and Business to Business transactions.
LO4 Perform intermediate and advanced spreadsheet operations.
LO5 Integrate MS Office Applications using VBA

Competitive Forces, Organisational Strategy and IS Structure, Competitive Strategy and Business Processes, Value Chain, Competitive Advantage.
Types of E-Commerce, E-Commerce Business Models, E-Commerce Revenue Models, Web 2.0 and User Content, B2B E-Commerce.
Spreadsheet Software
Lookup and match function; date and time functions; Pivot Tables: calculations, charts, slicers, data model, PowerPivots.
Integration and VBA
Macros: validation, clearing data; Integration & VBA: MS Office Application Integration
