Module Description: The fifth in a sequential set of modules, Musical Theatre Ensemble 5 is based on an exploration of the totality of elements arising in the presentation of a full scale musical theatre presentation/performance performance. Students deploy the tripartite skillset required by the industry i.e Acting, Singing, and Dancing and additionally, explore the interface with supporting technical departments / design team / and the role(s) of the production company
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Perform as part of a musical theatre ensemble, large and/or small scale, incorporating staging, movement, choreography, song and dialogue
LO2 Take direction and share opinion relating to both the choosing and execution of performance material for ensemble presentation
LO3 Focus on and appreciate, the central importance of text, spoken or sung
LO4 Understand the role of all supporting technical departments e.g. LX, Sound, Stage Management and the Design departments e.g Set, Props, Wardrobe, Hair & Make Up.
LO5 Reflect upon and document their personal and group process and achievement

Rehearsal
Rehearsing principal and ensemble elements, with sufficient independent preparation to facilitate adherence to strict deadlines and tight schedules
Teamwork
Working in an ensemble environment, with peers, a director and a full production team - creative, technical and design
Blog
Making considered weekly online journal entries documenting process and outcomes of this work and reflecting on issues surmounted
Critique
Reviewing an existing Musical Theatre Libretto and staging using one's considered learning to construct opinion
