Module Description: This module enables the learner to further develop his/her knowledge of Music Therapy, with particular reference to work with adults. It also provides access to musical, academic and interpersonal experiences relevant to: (i) developing as a sensitive and flexible performer, music teacher or community musician; (ii) pursuing a postgraduate training in Music Therapy.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Evaluate the use of Music Therapy to address the needs of individuals and groups in a variety of settings
LO2 Identify the practical, academic and personal skills they would need to continue developing in order to train as a music therapist
LO3 Present an analysis of case study material from the Music Therapy literature
LO4 Demonstrate increased keyboard, percussion, vocal and guitar skills as relevant to a therapeutic context
LO5 Lead music-making activity with an extended awareness of therapeutic possibilities

Reflective examination of clinical work of a range of music therapists with an emphasis on work with adults. Related contextual knowledge in areas of health care. Practical Skill Development
Further development of practical skills in the area of Keyboard, Voice, Guitar and Percussion and practical examination of how these could be applied in the Music Therapy context.
Observation/participation in at least one health, recreational or residential setting and leading music-making with a therapeutic awareness.
