Module Description: An intensive module focusing on specialised instrumental performance and advanced technical and musical skills. Preparation and public presentation of an instrumental/vocal programme.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Explore an extended range of repertory
LO2 Show an understanding of trends in performance traditions and current developments of performance practice in relation to the repertory selected and to the particularities of the instrument
LO3 Exhibit interpretative creativity and an ability to communicate with an audience
LO4 Demonstrate active aural awareness of the elements of the overarching structure including musical understanding between players, where appropriate
LO5 Employ available technology to promote a public performance
LO6 Display confidence in delivering technical elements, including quick study/orchestral excerpts and sight-reading

Construction of a programme consisting of contrasting works by different composers and/or a concerto with a view to preparing and taking part in a public performance
Importance of stylistic issues
Practical knowledge of trends and their application in performance practice
Recital and Self-Promotion
Matters related to public performances including stage etiquette, confident communication in playing, posters and publicity
