Module Description: |
This module explores the social contexts for European music during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and examines changing concepts of style, form, aesthetics and performance practice. |

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to: |

Discuss key concepts concerning the broader intellectual and artistic culture of the period. |

Research an approved topic relating to music in the seventeenth or eighteenth century. |

Structure and present research findings in written form and in a class presentation. |
LO5 |
Contextualise the emergence of opera, cantata, oratorio, sonata, concerto and symphony in the cultural life of Western Europe during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. |
