Module Description: This module will enable participants to develop an understanding of how arts processes can increase self-confidence, communication and group skills. It will explore issues that marginalise people and prevent them from participating fully in society, including the social v. medical model of disability.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Engage with and reflect on their workshop experience.
LO2 Engage with and describe the group process
LO3 Define equality issues and cultural differences.
LO4 Describe the historical and cultural context of creative arts facilitation.

It is highly recommended that candidates should have Level 7, or prior experience in Community Education, Art and Critical Voices, but the reality is those with no formal qualifications or art experience will also be considered.

Indicative Content
Communication
Students will explore the role of communication in group work, including the importance of listening and conflict resolution skills.
Arts in group work
An experiential exploration of the role of creative arts within a group context.
Equality Issues
Workshops will explore key issues and models relating to disability and cultural equality.
History and context
Workshops will explore a historical and cultural context for creative arts in group work. Ethical issues and garda clearance - how these are dealt with.
