Module Description: This module focuses on equipping learners with a range of personal presentation and communication skills required in the professional setting by developing learners’ skills and confidence in delivering effective presentations – a fundamental requirement for all public relations professionals.Students will learn how to how to hold audience attention and maintain credibility throughout presentations and to enhance them by effectively harnessing various presentation aids and technologies.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Plan and deliver effective presentations based on an analysis of audience and information delivery needs.
LO2 Utilise and harness a range of audio/visuals aids and technologies to enhance professional presentations
LO3 Apply a range of communication techniques in various presentation formats and settings.
LO4 Critically analyse presentation techniques and performances.

Indicative Content
Presentation Planning and Development
Planning the presentation: content preparation, structure, tone and timing. Defining purpose, identifying key points and clarifying key messages. Content research and time-lining.
Communicating With the Audience
Researching the audience (profile, number, familiarity) and matching presentation style to audience. Holding audience attention and developing persuasive speaking style. Voice projection and non-verbal communication techniques. Controlling space and creating a presence. Managing audience interactions.
Presentation Aids and Technologies
Incorporating audio-visual aids – clarity, relevance and visibility. Equipment requirements and use. Computer based presentations (eg MS Powerpoint, Apple Keynote). Creating slides: adding, formatting and editing text. Incorporating visual information: images, photos, animation effects. Design Templates.
