Module Author: BRIAN NIXON
Module Description: On completion of this module the student will gain a practicle knowledge of modern heavy goods vehicle systems and technologies, the module highlights the technical aspects associated with modern heavy goods vehicle technologies. The student will aquire a knowledge associated with the preparation, servicing and maintainance of heavy goods vehicle.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Recognise & apply health and safety regulations relating to the operation of heavy goods vehicle garage practices
LO2 To perform and record technical measurements on HGV components & systems.
LO3 Categorise the HGV vehicle into subsystems, identify the components of these systems and describe their function within the system.
LO4 Carry out inspections to ensure a HGV conforms to department of the environment DOE safety and emissions regulations.
LO5 Identify the service & maintanance requirements relating to HGV`s
Pre-requisite learning
Module Recommendations
This is prior learning (or a practical skill) that is strongly recommended before enrolment in this module. You may enrol in this module if you have not acquired the recommended learning but you will have considerable difficulty in passing (i.e. achieving the learning outcomes of) the module. While the prior learning is expressed as named CIT module(s) it also allows for learning (in another module or modules) which is equivalent to the learning specified in the named module(s).
