Upon successful completion of this programme the graduate will be able to demonstrate... :

PO1 Knowledge - Breadth
  (a) A specialised knowledge of the theory, principles, concepts, methodologies and practical applications associated with Food, Nutrition, Home and Textiles Design, Social Studies, Accounting, Economics, Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Business Environment.
  (b) Knowledge of the key concepts in the study of education and specifically in the teaching of Home Economics.
PO2 Knowledge - Kind
  (a) An ability to evaluate current theory and best practice in the fields of Food, Nutrition, Home and Textiles Design, Social Studies, Accounting, Economics, Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Business Environment and Education through the application of research, exercising critical thinking and problem solving, thus being capable of meeting and exceeding strategic objectives of the business environment.
PO3 Skill - Range
  (a) The ability to discern and apply a wide range of techniques to the diverse disciplines within this course applicable to the food, nutrition, business and entrepreneurship settings and related industry sectors.
  (b) The skills to critically review the pedagogical approaches applied in the teaching of home economics.
PO4 Skill - Selectivity
  (a) The ability to analyse situations, solutions and opportunities; apply theory and practical techniques to plan, direct, organise projects, groups or events while meeting the need of the relevant audience and achieving the objectives of the organisation, be it education, business or industry through a leadership role.
PO5 Competence - Context
  (a) The capacity to employ analytical and problem solving skills in a professional and ethical manner in a wide range of contexts, within the areas of education, home economics and business.
PO6 Competence - Role
  (a) An ability to contribute positively, both autonomously and as a member of a team, and to work ethically and professionally with a capacity for leadership, integrity, and empathy while meeting objectives in given roles within the food, nutrition, broader business environments and in the classroom.
PO7 Competence - Learning to Learn
  (a) An ability to identify and address continuous learning requirements at a personal and professional level to update competencies and knowledge. Be able to embrace change, present and future, within the respective sector(s) in which the graduate chooses to specialise.
PO8 Competence - Insight
  (a) The ability to articulate their personal motivations through aims and objectives within this diverse range of sectors, which includes Food, Nutrition, Home and Textiles Design, Social Studies, Accounting, Economics, Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Business Environment, Education, at an operational or management capacity.
  (b) An ability to interact and communicate with others in a manner which ethically promotes their own personal interests while encouraging others to succeed and operate to a high ethical and professional standard.
