Upon successful completion of this programme the graduate will be able to demonstrate... :

PO1 Knowledge - Breadth
  (a) An in-depth knowledge of the Montessori Method of education which would enable them to formulate, implement, monitor, evaluate and review educational practices. Display competence in leading classes according to the Montessori Method. Capability to work in a supervisory capacity where management of classes is a core requirement, recognising the importance of the range and functions of the multi-disciplinary team in a variety of educational settings.
PO2 Knowledge - Kind
  (a) The competence and knowledge required to integrate the learning experience through the production of a research based project. Be able to apply the theoretical concepts to their own practice from the various subject areas such as Pedagogy, Ethics, Comparative Education and Psychology.
PO3 Skill - Range
  (a) A strong ability to identify and analyse problems within the classroom and propose and implement solutions. Be able to play a leading role in teaching and educational development; have a major input in devising, implementing and evaluating individual education plans; design, deliver and evaluate appropriate lesson plans in keeping with with relevant curricula; fulfill a variety of roles in their schools or organisations including class teachers, team leaders and supervisors.
PO4 Skill - Selectivity
  (a) An understanding of theoretical concepts as they apply to diverse learning environments; utilise the practical skills gained on the programme in a range of educational settings; have an input into identifying and solving problems in areas such as teaching, transition, assessment and monitoring educational progress.
PO5 Competence - Context
  (a) The ability to research challenges, and implement solutions, in special and mainstream education; apply the Montessori Philosophy to a variety of learning contexts; suggest creative and innovative solutions to education issues; relate work-based problems to learning from the programme and case studies/research investigated.
PO6 Competence - Role
  (a) Their ability to work alone or as a member of a team; be an effective and contributory member of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team; work effectively as a team leader; supervise and manage children and others in a variety of educational settings.
PO7 Competence - Learning to Learn
  (a) The competence to take responsibility for his/her own learning as evidenced by research assignments and directed study; successfully share and transfer knowledge as part of a learning organisation; utilise their programme learning to deal with new experiences and unfamiliar situations and continue their path of lifelong learning.
PO8 Competence - Insight
  (a) The ability to participate in the on-going education process of promoting ethical and social values; assist schools and related organisations in implementing policies and programmes in line with changing educational practices.
