  (a) Knowledge of: analytical techniques and methods; object orientated programming; networking approaches and protocols; embedded systems tools and hardware; real-time operating systems; research methodologies; project management procedures; innovation and commercialisation techniques; design and development methods relevant to embedded networked systems, problem solving and analysis techniques.
PO2 Knowledge - Kind
  (a) That that they can: research solutions to ill-defined and complex problems and projects; define operational models for specific complex systems from different perspectives e.g. physical layer, hardware perspective, software perspective, networking protocols; relate and combine these specific models; design and deploy applications using specific sensors, high-level languages, wireless networking protocols on a specified embedded system; evaluate the performance of specific applications; analyse experimental data;

  (a) That they can: identify and develop models for ill-defined systems using commercial CAD software; evaluate the usefulness of these models with reference to the existing literature; demonstrate a mastery of development environments for programming, embedded system design and digital system implementation; design and develop an embedded networked system; design and develop sensor nodes; implement a design on an embedded system; implement software solutions; evaluate a solution to an embedded networked problem; manage ill-defined projects as part of a group or as an individual; manage product and process innovation

  (a) That they can: research complex projects to develop project specifications; creatively use the research literature to propose new solutions; research and analyse proposed solutions for suitability and compare with existing solutions; define engineering specificiations from application specifications; select the most appropriate model; select the most appropriate embedded systems technology for a specified project; refine problem solutions through a cycle of continuous improvement; manage and resolve conflicts in teams.

  (a) That they can: evaluate the risks associated with individual and team projects, identify research projects and evaluate commercial potential; undertake research, design and development of unfamiliar complex projects in accordance with international best practice; adhere to highest ethical standards in execution of their work; adhere to all health and safety standards during the execution of their work.
